Hook Island is a
ruggedly beautiful Whitsunday
island 25 km east of Shute
Harbour. Composed of mainly national park,
there are many excellent bushwalking trails
particularly one that leads to Butterfly Bay, full of
butterflies at the shore. An underwater
observatory allows for a unique view of coral and
marine life. Spectacular yachting anchorages are
available at Nara and Macona inlets and snorkeling
& diving are popular in many parts of the
island.
